On behalf of the 2nd International Conference on Japan-Bangladesh Research and Practice (JBRP) 2023 Program Committee, I would like to welcome you all to Nagoya, the largest city in the Chubu region and the major industrial hub in Japan, at the outset of the great holiday (Obon festival) season. The organizing committee has put together a program that is impressive with about 30 abstracts at 9 different sessions around four multidisciplinary domains (namely, 1. Business, Huminites, and Social Science, 2. Agricultural Science, 3. Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Public Health, 4. Natural Science, Engineering, and ICT) mostly from Bangladeshi (origin) researchers working in Japan. Apart from a welcome dinner, the committee also puts together an insightful keynote (Uncovering knowledge), a tutorial session (Machine learning for multidisciplinary research), a panel discussion (Collaboration between Bangladeshi researchers and practitioners for JICA`s Projects and Programs in Bangladesh), and the best presentation award during the two days conference (11-12th August 2023).
It is worth mentioning that JBRP is a flagship event organized by the Network of Bangladesh Researchers in Japan (NBRJ). NBRJ aims to bring together Bangladeshi (origin) researchers working at different universities, research organizations, industries, and corporate sectors across Japan. The conference continues last year’s workshop in Tokyo, Japan, with a new name and look. JBRP provides a platform for researchers across different scientific fields to share their achievements for creating multidisciplinary research collaboration opportunities and learning from each other, and make a bridge to achieve NBRJ’s vision to be the leading research and policy advocacy group in Japan with interdisciplinary skills dedicated to inform and leverage the development of Bangladesh through promoting Japan-Bangladesh scientific and development cooperation, intellectual engagement, and policy advocacy.
We are very thankful to the session organizers, namely, Dr. Chowdhury Mahbubul Alam and Dr. Bishnu Kumar Adhikary for Business, Humanities, and Social Science domain, Dr. Tofael Ahmed, and Dr. Md. Nashir Uddin for Agricultural Science domain, Dr. S.M.A. Hakim Siddiki, Dr. Mizanur Rahman, and Dr. Md Riasat Hasan for Medicine, Pharmaceuticals, and Public Health domain and Dr. Shoaib Bhuiyan, Dr. Sharifu Ura, and Dr. Ashir Ahmed for Natural Science, Engineering, and ICT domain for facilitating the submissions. We also appreciate Mr. Syed Nasir Ershad, The Embassy of Bangladesh in Tokyo, to deliver a talk on Japan-Bangladesh Economic Cooperation. We are particularly indebted to Dr. Mohammad Abdul Malek (Coordinator, NBRJ and Program Co-Chair), Dr. Mahfuzul Islam (Program Co-Chair), Dr. Saad Khan (Local arrangements), Dr. Shamim Jubair Ahmed (Finance Chair) and GC Secretaries (Dr. Mehadi Aman and Dr. Tania Afroj) for putting the conference programs together.
Finally, I would like to thank Nanzan University for sponsoring and hosting the conference at its campus.
